MEDIUM-LIGHT ROAST | Dried Raspberry Baking Chocolate | Persimmon | Agave

We have sourced the most unique coffee from Sumatra we have ever tasted. Our roast rated 93 points (Coffee Review, June 2023). This natural processed microlot is fruit forward and sweetly tart. Delicious notes of dried raspberry, persimmon, baking chocolate, nutmeg and agave syrup.

Sparkling acidity. Crisp, satiny mouthfeel. Berry-toned finish. Fruit-driven and deeply aromatic.

Region: Lake Toba
Varietal: Typica
Elevation: 1300-1600 meters
Milling Process: Natural
Drying: Patio

Our medium/light roast highlights these exotic flavors - extremely atypical from the coffees we ever find from this terroir. If you like natural processed coffees - you will be just as surprised as us by this tasty Sumatra. This one is for you home connoisseurs.

A pleasant surprise!

I picked this up with my latest order to try something new, especially a lighter roast. So far I've tried it in my Hario Switch 1:16 ratio both straight hot and Japanese iced style. I prefer it hot. It has a good juicy mouthfeel and smooth flavor, not too acidic. I think I'll pick this up again.

Fruity and juicy notes - great for a pourover

Great sumatra, one of my favorites for a nice pourover

Unique without being extreme.

Surprised this has been one of my favorite coffees this year as I'm no fan of the "wet hulled" processing common to this origin.
This isn't that.
The combo of a bracing crispness ("dried" vs "fresh" fruit tones, and "baking" vs "dark" or "milk" chocolate) with a silky/juicy mouth feel makes this coffee almost magically enigmatic.
Also love the aromatics and hint of spice.
The aftertaste is delightfully different. Not a lot, almost nothing in particular, lingers on the tongue. (A lost point for this seems the only thing that kept Coffee Review from rating this in the "Exceptional" range.) Yet every sip leaves behind a clean, fresh feel like you just ate a mint or slice of fruit.

Not Typical Sumatran

In my experience most Sumatran’s are syrupy, thick and earthy. This one is fruity and balanced with fruity elements not typical. I found it nearly the ideal coffee as it was so well balanced.
